IEP Review

We understand the importance of being actively involved in your child’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). We can attend IEP meetings with you to provide our professional perspective and advocacy. Our board certified behavior analysts (BCBAs) have extensive experience collaborating with schools to develop appropriate IEP goals tailored to your child’s needs. We review IEPs with a careful eye, looking at the goals, services, accommodations, and more to ensure your child is receiving the supports they require to make meaningful progress. If any part of the IEP is unclear or seems insufficient, we can help explain terminology, ask clarifying questions, and push for proper services.

School FBAs

(Functional Behavior Assessment)

Behaviors in the classroom often stem from underlying issues that require understanding. Our team of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) partners with schools to conduct comprehensive Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) to uncover the root causes of behaviors so positive interventions can be created.

The FBA process typically involves:

  • Classroom observations to identify antecedents, behaviors, and consequences. Detailed notes are taken to detect patterns.
  • Interviews with teachers, parents, counselors, and other staff to gain insights on behavior triggers, reactions, and possible functions.
  • Reviewing documents like IEPs and office referrals for important details.
  • Tracking data on behavior frequency, duration, and other variables.
  • A report that summarizes behavior triggers, reinforcing consequences, and the likely purpose the behavior serves.

With the FBA complete, our BCBAs work closely with school staff to develop a Behavior Intervention Plan outlining positive strategies tailored to the student’s needs and behavior functions. We also provide training on implementation, progress monitoring, and adjusting the plan as required.
